Vans Are the New "It" Shoe

Photo courtesy of InStyle Trends come and go and with another passing day we welcome another sneaker to have its heyday once again. After all, fashion is an art of revamping, rethinking and recycling old ideas to create new realities for some of our most beloved styles.

After the rise (and the inevitable fall) of Adidas Stan Smiths, fashion hubs such as VOGUE have been trying to predict what the next big sneaker trend would be. Falling flat in their search, it was left to New York Fashion Week to produce the final answer. As sensibly-stylish sneakers continue to be a staple piece, the simplicity and brand-identity of Vans set the stage for an obvious top choice for style mavens. Maybe that is why tastemakers, influencers and fashion-connoisseurs took to the streets of New York Fashion Week with meticulously planned outfits paired with classic Vans sneakers.

Getting your hands on a pair may be a lot easier than you’d imagine. Vans is hosting a Guest Artist Event at Destiny USA on September 22, 2016 from 6pm-9pm. Creative genius Adam J. Kurtz will be performing, customizing products and presenting all night long. Not only that, but he will be giving away a pair of customized sneakers every hour.

Kurtz, a Brooklyn-based artist and author celebrates the ephemera of every day life through his simple and whimsical art. As if meeting Kurtz and snagging some free insight isn’t reason enough to stop by, the first 50 attendees will receive a copy of Kurtz’s book, a limited edition “Pick Me Up” pin and a customized tote bag.
