Face Time with Neal Casey

Neal Casey: our dear Student Association President. Although most people would probably be bored to tears thinking about doing his job, turns out Casey himself is more interesting than you would think, as he dishes to Jerk about being fake, his biggest pet peeve, and what celebrity he would want to punch in the face.

What's something people don't know about you?

I bring my own lunch to school every day.

What's the fakest thing you ever had to do as SA president?

I try not to do anything fake! But it’s, like any politician, smiling and shaking hands all the time. You got to put the smile on.

Most embarrassing thing you've done while drunk?

[laughs] Uh, I don’t think I’m going to answer that question in my capacity as Student president.

What was your last recurring dream?

That my parents got a tiger for a pet.

Weirdest thing you’ve witnessed in Syracuse?

I once saw somebody dragging their friend through the snow, like, on the street.

Strange night.

What do you do all day as SA president?

I answer emails. All day. All the time.

If you could be reincarnated into someone dead or alive, who would it

be?

Thomas Jefferson. One of my favorite presidents. Very smart guy. He dabbled in a lot of different things – science, politics, national history, all kinds of stuff. Plus, he authored the Declaration of Independence – pretty important piece.

What celebrity would you love to punch in the face?

Tiger Woods. He let me down. I’m a big golfer – so I was a big Tiger Woods fan. And then, when that whole thing came out [with his wife], he really let me down.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?

One of my worst pet peeves is when people walk around with tags sticking out of their shirts.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Jersey Shore. Absolutely, Jersey Shore. I’m from New Jersey, and I’ve been to Seaside. Like, that was the place to go after your high school prom – Seaside Heights.

If you won the lottery, what's the first thing you would buy?

A boat. I’ve always wanted to have a boat. I like to water ski. I’m not like, a great water skier – but I can hold my own.

Mila Kunis or Natalie Portman?

I don’t even know who Mila Corndice is, so I’m going to go with Natalie Portman.

Freshman year at SU, you were the kid who....?

I was the kid who signed up for every single thing on campus. I signed up for absolutely everything. [laughs]

Can you dougie?

Uh, no, I’m a horrible dancer. Absolutely horrible. Can you teach me how to dougie?

What's the last song that was stuck in your head?

Uh, this morning I was singing, "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah." [laughs] I guess, I’m very…chipper – I’m a morning person, so, like, I wake up ready to go every day, and it drives my roommates absolutely insane.
