Candlelight Yoga in The Dome

Taken from Flickr, tamaki hayashi The Dome was lit.

Thanks to the candlelight yoga event hosted by Hendricks Chapel last Thursday, wannabe hipster yogis like me were able to find some inner peace amidst the chaos of 'Cuse.

Being that the yoga sesh was held in the Carrier Dome, it was a big stage to say the least – but I was feeling pretty confident because of my previous yoga experience #basicallyapro #sohipsocool.

I walked in and the Loud House was uncharacteristically calm and quiet. I took some obligatory pics for Snapchat, found a place amongst hundreds of fellow yogis and rolled out my light blue “Breathe” mat like a natural. My friends and I may or may not have been a bit fashionably late, but OM well, right?

We started off with some basic movements, to get the Zen vibes flowing. I successfully followed along and did downward dog, plank, and chair pose. There was only one pose I couldn’t do but I’m still happy because TBH this is the first time I’ve yoga-d in a while, and now my new yoga pants have actually served their purpose.

There were some people who were taking it very seriously, while there were others who were…less yoga, more chill. Subtweet at my peeps who were chatting it up or doing Savasana (the lying down pose where you can literally just sleep) the entire time – you know who you are.

We also got some good pics out of the experience, which is always important. It was funny to see girls strike up a yoga a pose after the event was over just for the Insta. Fake AF (I obviously did this so, no shame).

It was definitely a fun break from the craziness of daily life. 10/10 would recommend because sometimes you just need to close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and chant dOMMMMMMe.
