YEARS ACTIVE: Summer 2009-Current

SOUND: Electric Pop Folk

SOUNDS LIKE

Piano and banjo-less Broken Social Scene-era Feist. Aument is a Feist fanatic and can belt in an eerily similar fashion, but what distinguishes the band is its recent desire to not sound like Feist—or anyone else.

WHAT THEY JERK IT TO

Wilco, Radiohead, The Beatles, Kanye West, Tom Waits, and Jay-Z.

BEST SONG

The band's most recent single, "Gold" showcases Aument’s sublime-yet-soft sounding vocals. With an ascending bridge that connects a sure-fire—and even danceable—guitar and drum rockout, this song highlights the talents of the entire band.

WHY YOU SHOULD LISTEN UP

Thanks to the talented trio backing Aument, the band is in a constant state of evolution, evidenced by their recent Radiohead cover "Bodysnatchers." There may not be a band in the Syracuse area capable of creating and covering such genuine songs.

UNLIKELY SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

Aument interned with Jingle Punks, a TV and Film licensing and music composition company this summer, where she sang for Lifetime and NBC. She also wrote a theme song for an HBO porno, where she says she learned about the client and product-based side of the music business.

WHERE YOU CAN HEAR THEM

The Westcott Theater, Funk 'N Waffles, SubCat Studios.
