October isn’t only about costumes, scary movies, and Halloweekend parties. It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it’s time to get involved. Women as young as 25 are being diagnosed, so we have to start being conscious of our own health while showing support to survivors and those still fighting. We’re here to show you ways you can get involved this month.

“Pink In The Rink”

The Syracuse Crunch is playing the Albany River Rats on Saturday, October 30th at 7:30 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Tickets are only $15, and the profits are going towards breast cancer awareness and research, specifically the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure in Central New York. Wear pink, watch a hockey game at a discount, and support a great cause. Visit https://www.syracuse.com/cny/2010/10/breast_cancer_awareness_month_-_events_in_cny.html for more information.

Donating & Fundraising

According to https://www.komen.org/, another woman gets diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes. The Susan G. Komen organization is a foundation based out of CNY, and they sponsor a variety of ways to support breast cancer awareness. You can donate and help with a variety of fundraisers, or start your own.

Save Lids, Save Lives

A simple way to help this month is to save pink Yoplait Yogurt lids throughout October. Rinse and mail them to The Susan G. Komen organization, and they will keep the proceeds to use towards further research and relief.

There are a variety of ways to get involved this month, and the best thing is you can do as little or as much as you want. Take care of your health and show a little extra love this October.
