Romanticizing Your Life Is More Than Just a TikTok Trend

We’ve all seen the “romanticizing your life” trend on our favorite internet black hole, A.K.A. TikTok, but it’s actually something to seriously live by.

Social media stars have been preaching about this lifestyle for months, but we’ve been living it for years. TikTok has been booming with videos of creators making everyday activities like picking out an outfit, making iced coffee, or going for a walk look glamorous and thrilling. Users who have been catching onto this viral phenomenon have become inspired to get the most out of their days too. Like yes, everything does look a little bit better when Doja Cat’s latest single is playing behind it paired with a glitter filter in full effect. But your life can feel just as viral-worthy outside of the app too.

As far as we’re concerned, there is absolutely nothing proving our life isn’t the best of the best. Nothing proving Jerk isn’t the ultimate publication on Earth (tea), nothing proving Central New York isn’t the No. 1 place in the world to live (that one might be a stretch). These statements are all subjective, so let’s have the most favorable opinions about our own lives.

Living with this mindset makes the most mundane, rainy day chores feel special. The more you begin to see your daily coffee stop at Schine Dunks as prime content for a Serendipity remake, the more you’ll start to believe it. If it gives you more confidence and a renewed lust for life, what’s wrong with that?

We’re not saying you have to turn into the most optimistic and positive human to walk the planet. Things won’t always go your way and some days will be better than others. However, appreciating little things that usually go unappreciated can make all the difference.

Acting like you are the hottest, smartest, most badass bitch on campus does not hurt a soul and totally fuels your fire. No one’s opinion but yours matters at the end of the day, so you should always hold extremely high opinions of yourself and your life. It may feel silly at first, but telling yourself that you’re the best will eventually become your own reality--and what a blissful reality that will be.
