Who Are You Wearing? (Thrifting Edition)
It’s just like when a girl receives a compliment on a dress with pockets. She can’t just say thank you. Obviously, she must respond, “Thank you, it has pockets!” Don’t even try to pretend you haven’t done it. With thrifted pieces it’s the same, but better. It’s better because people are impressed. It takes a certain level of creativity and dedication to walk away from the Salvation Army with a quality piece or two in hand. Also, our ever-dwindling bank accounts thank us, and so does the environment.
Whether we want to think about it or not, we’re reaching the end here and it’s important that we all do our parts. We all hate fast fashion in theory, but when the time comes to boycott Urban Outfitters are we ready? Thrifting is one small way to pitch in and buy those Urban items second hand — Greta Thunberg would definitely approve.
However there is one thing, one seemingly-obvious thing we so rarely thing about when purchasing second-hand clothing; Who wore this before me? Have you ever thought about the 14 year-old boy who owned your fracket before you and wore it to school with a pair of wrinkled jeans and Nike running shows before you wore it… and subsequently lost it at Theta Chi?
We asked a few thrifty students "Who are you wearing?" and these were the results.
